Sylvania – William Pinckney “Bill” Sanders, III, age 77, passed away peacefully at his home under hospice care on July 13, 2021. Bill was a lifelong resident of Screven County and attended Screven County High School before graduating from Camden Military Academy in Camden, SC. After attending Clemson University, he spent the next four decades of his life farming, first working on the Sanders’ family farm, and later working as manager of Wade Plantation before retiring. Bill loved hunting, fishing, cooking, and sharing his famous BBQ and Brunswick Stew. He was a very dedicated, active member of Bethel Brick United Methodist Church. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Griner Sanders and father, W.P. Sanders, Jr., his daughter Jennifer Marie Sanders, his sister Sandra Jones and his beloved black lab, Nikki.
Bill is survived by his wife, Pat Carr Sanders, a son, Brigham Sanders (Jennifer) of Sylvania, and a daughter, Stephanie S. Hodges (Billy) of Portal, GA, both of whose mother is Patricia Dwelle Dyar, his sister Kay Dixon (Ralph) of Sylvania, his sister Rose Marie McKinney of Perry, GA, his brother Al Sanders (Elaine) of Sylvania, his brother-in-law Vernon Jones of Grovetown, GA, two step-daughters Angie Bolduc and Julie Snow, both of Broken Arrow, OK, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Friday, July 16, 2021, at 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Bethel Brick United Methodist Church.
Funeral Service: Friday, July 16, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Bethel Brick United Methodist Church with Rev. Ralph Dixon, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers: Chance Sanders, Buddy Bell, David Morris, Oliver Sanders, Trey Dixon and Kent McKinney. Honorary Pallbearers: Scott Lewis, Atys Williams, Michael Oliver and Jason Fries.
