Virginia “Jenny” Ellen Taylor Meadows, 79, of Sylvania passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. Jenny was born March 5, 1946, to the late couple Emory Simon “Pete” and Eloise Mock Taylor.
Jenny graduated from Screven County High School in June 1964. A lifelong member of Antioch Christian Church, she dedicated herself to the church for many years, serving as treasurer and as a member of the board of directors for over 25 years. Jenny dedicated many years of service as a manager for Dollar General in both Sylvania and Millen during the 1980s and 1990s.
She found great joy in watching the delicate beauty of hummingbirds in Spring where she not only admired their graceful flights but also took great pleasure in feeding them. The hummingbirds brought her peace, and their presence will forever be a symbol of her gentle and nurturing spirit.
Jenny is preceded in death by her siblings Emory Taylor, Gene Taylor, Loyd Taylor, Richard Taylor, and John Taylor.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, James Robert Meadows, her daughters April R. Burkes (Jerry) and Jamie K. Williams (Jan Tracy) both of Sylvania. Surviving siblings include Robert “Lewis” Taylor (Cassandra) of Sylvania, Linda (Stephen) Traub of Savannah, and Rita (Bobby) Howard of Sylvania. Surviving grandchildren include Hailey Williams, Harley Williams (Satin), Simon Williams, Ryan Burkes, Victoria Burkes, Jordan Burkes, and Kobie Burkes (Hailey) of Sylvania. There are also eight very special great grandchildren. She loved and enjoyed time with many special nieces, nephews and relatives. She cherished her family’s children as her own and enjoyed spending time with all of them.
