Thomas Robert Masterson, Master Chief Fire Control Technician, U. S. Navy Retired, age 90, of Sylvania, passed away Thursday at his residence under the hospice care and his loving family. He was born November 11, 1929, in Buffalo, New York to the late Harold Thomas and Anna Elizabeth Propester Masterson. He was retired from the Navy after 35 years of service to his country having served during both the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7116 in Sylvania. He enjoyed walking with his dogs for miles daily before his health failed and he enjoyed life to the fullest. Mr. Masterson was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Catherine Thomas Masterson, a daughter, Linda Marie M. Lariscy, a son, David Masterson, a sister, Anna Mary Murphy, and a brother, James Masterson.
He is survived by: Sons, Thomas Masterson of Hagerstown, MD, and Andrew Masterson of Raleigh, NC, a Daughter-in-Law, Dawn Masterson of Sylvania, sisters, Dorothy M. Harding of Buffalo, NY and Mary Lou Parvaish of Germantown, MD, brothers, Robert Masterson of Hartford, Conn. and John Michael Masterson of Buffalo, NY, 10 Grandchildren, 9 Great-Grandchildren and a number of Nieces and Nephews.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Masterson will be held Monday, March 9, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home in Sylvania with Father Louis Lussier officiating.
Members of the VFW Post 7116 of Sylvania will serve as honorary pallbearers and render military honors during the memorial service.
Visitation will be held following the service.
