Sylvania – Scigmund Clarence “Skeeter” Parker, age 87, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, GA. He was born in Screven County, GA to the late Emory Parker and Mary Elizabeth Willis Williams. He graduated GA Teachers College where he obtained an education degree and taught at Savannah High School. He worked as a bookkeeper at the Sylvania Stockyard until it closed and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War Era. He was a charter member of Memorial Baptist Church where he was a Deacon for over 40 years and was a board member for the Screven County Recreation Dept. He coached football, baseball, and softball for more than 25 years and also enjoyed fishing and doing yard work.
Survivors: Wife: Glinnice Linto Parker of Sylvania; Daughter and Son-in-Law: Shari P. & Philip Boston of Hilton Head, SC; Son and Daughter-In-Law: George “Tommy” & Ivey Parker of Brunswick, GA; Sister: Margaret Ann Cail of Statesboro, GA; Grandchildren: Brad & Bridget Boston of Souderton, PA, Christi & Jeremy Henderson of Fultondale, AL, Cody Parker and Alex Parker, both of Brunswick, GA; Great-Grandchildren: Lincoln Boston and Isla Boston; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
Visitation: Friday, July 30, 2021, at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Funeral Services: Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Kent and Justin Brannen officiating. Burial following at Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Durrell Thompson, Bob Ray, Jud Zeigler, J.R. Tucker, Johnnie “Bubba” Linto and Jerry Winters. Honorary Pallbearers: Deacons of Memorial Baptist Church and Dr. Sherma Peter and Staff.
