Peggy Rebecca (Hunter) Bazemore

Peggy Bazemore, age 83, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Candler Hospital in Savannah, GA. Peggy was born and raised in the Hunter’s Community in Screven County. She enjoyed 63 years of marriage to the late H.C. “Chris” Bazemore. She loved cooking, especially during the holidays, making loads of goodies for family and gift baskets! She loved to garden and her yard was loaded with an array of flowers, shrubs, and trees – many that were transplanted from her late mother’s property. She was a nursing caregiver for 40 years as she loved to take care of others. She loved to watch the “soaps” and ignored phone calls during that time. She never missed her Thursday morning hair appointments with Mary Deliagle Deer. She was devoted to her family, hauling her sons all over the state for games. Peggy will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Christopher “Chris” Bazemore; her son Russell Bazemore; her parents, Henry Hunter, and Gladys Hunter Whitfield; her sisters, Lillian Youngbood, Virginia Spears, and Martha Morel.

Those who will cherish her memory include her Daughter, Cheryl Bazemore; her son “Bubba” Bazemore and wife Mindy; her sister Miriam Morgan and her cherished sister-in-law Deanna Weaver; her grandchildren, Matt Bazemore, Josh Bazemore, Megan Bazemore, Brooke Bazemore, Jackson Bazemore and Cory Neidlinger, her great-grandchildren, Jake Bazemore, Ryan Bazemore, and Eden Bazemore, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers include Jake Bazemore, Matt Bazemore, Josh Bazemore, Jackson Bazemore, Ryan Bazemore, and Cory Neidlinger.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 10:00 AM for visitation at Thompson Strickland Waters Funeral Home in Sylvania, Georgia. Graveside services will follow at Buck Creek Church Cemetery at 11:30 AM
