OLLIE MAE JOHNSON COOPER

Ollie Mae Johnson Cooper, age 76, of Mitchell, Georgia passed away on Monday evening, February 12th, 2024, at Piedmont hospital in Macon, Georgia.

Born in Mitchell, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Edward “Ed” Stephen Johnson and Lizzie Ellen Parrish Johnson, both of Mitchell, Georgia. Her parental grandparents were the late Edward Stephen Johnson & Eliza Jane Harrell Johnson, both of Glascock County. Her maternal grandparents were the late Sidney Parrish & Diannah Sammons Parrish, both of Glascock County. Ollie was a lifetime resident of Mitchell in Glasscock County, Georgia.

Ollie was a homemaker who loved her family, church and friends. She was a Christian by faith and attended Mitchell Full Gospel Church. Ollie loved to attend church, visit residents at the nursing home at Gibson Rehabilitation Center and decorate her yard for the various seasons. She and her husband, Teddy, loved to have fun decorating and both enjoyed dressing up as clowns for local parades in the community. Ollie also loved her pets and was a huge collector of frog decor.

Ollie was the youngest of 8 children and is preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters: Margaret Wilcher of Mitchell, Eunice Wilcher of Warthen, Gene Johnson of Mitchell, Glynn Johnson of Lake Alfred, Florida, and Everette Johnson of Winter Haven Florida.

Ollie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and George Beasley of Statesboro; her son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Shonda Cooper of Sandersville; sisters, Mattie Ann Price of Claxton, Geneva Kitchens of Gibson; as well as three grandchildren, Caleb Cooper of North Augusta, Hannah Cooper of Barnwell, South Carolina, and George B. Sturgis of Statesboro. She is also survived by her special family friends Nancy Landrum of Edgehill and Rhonda & Russell Rhodes of Mitchell and Robert Landrum of Gibson.

A visitation will be held at Mitchell Full Gospel Church on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 10:00 am Followed by a funeral service at 11:00 an officiated by Reverend Kyle Downs. Interment will follow at Mitchell City Cemetery.
