NATHAN BENNETT

Nathan William Bennett, age 77, of Sylvania, and husband of Helen Burke Bennett, passed away on Thursday morning, August 18, 2022, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro.

Nathan was born December 28, 1944, to the late Dorsey LeHue Bennett and Hattie Bennett McBride in Screven County. Nathan was a member of the McDonald Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He worked in construction as a carpenter, he loved wood working and was always willing to help anyone in need of repairs.

In addition to his parents, Nathan was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Bennett.

He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Bennett; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis & Reggie Hodges; son, Wesley Nathan Bennett; sisters, Shirley Jean Scott and Irene Bragg; brother, LeHue Dorsey Bennett; grandchildren, Shellie & Matthew Shipes and Dalton Dent; 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Friday evening, August 19, 2022, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.

The Funeral Service will take place Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at the Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Kent officiating. Interment to follow at the Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
