Mickey E Austin

Mickey E. Austin, 66, went to be with the lord on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Ogeechee Area Hospice surrounded by his loving family.

Mickey was born in Sylvania, Ga on September 3rd, 1958 to Elbert Austin and Marie Whitehead Hutcheson. He was the grandson of the late Raleigh E. and Lucy Bragg Whitehead and the late Beasley and Hattie Mae Austin.

Mickey loved his family and God from an early age. He wanted to speak the Gospel of Jesus Christ to anyone who would listen. Mickey loved being outdoors where he could admire God's creations.

Mickey was a hard worker and a master painter for over 46 years, following in his grandfather Raleigh's footsteps. He also got a pastor's degree and was an ordained minister. His last job was with Master's Touch in Savannah, GA.

Mickey is survived by his parents Marie W. Hutcheson, Elbert and Sheila Austin. Siblings Richie A. Austin, Steven E. (Martha) Austin, Step-sister Sylvia Hutcheson, and step-brother Bill (Kathy) Hutcheson. Nieces and nephews Bradley Williams, Halynn Marie Friese, Jordan Austin, Aiden Hutcheson, and Sydney Hutcheson. many beloved cousins, great nephews, Aunts, and uncles.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 12:00-2:00 PM with the Service following at 2:00 PM in the James M. Strickland Memorial Chapel of Thompson Strickland Waters Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Charlie Cooper and Rev. Kevin Rountree officiating.

Burial will follow at Screven County Memorial Cemetery.

Thompson Strickland Waters Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
