Sylvania – Mary Juanita Cason Reynolds, age 81, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at her residence under the care of Regency Southern Care Hospice and surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Folkston, GA to the late Ivan Taylor & Vannie Chesser Hickox. She was retired from the textile industry and was a member of Antioch Christian Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, William “Bill” Cason and William Walker Reynolds, and her brothers, Herschel Hickox, W.C. Hickox and Raymond Hickox.
Juanita, known affectionately as Nana to many, lived a life full of joy and contentment. With a hopeful heart one can pray to pass peacefully at an advanced age of wisdom, surrounded by family. Peace comes in knowing that Nana can call this her story. The life she lived so beautifully is hard to surpass. Of course hardships came, and troubles were many. Yet Nana’s faith and tenacity kept her focus on living her days well, despite the circumstances. She never turned down an adventure… whether it be traveling, shopping, an opportunity to fish, holding and caring for her family (especially grand and great grand children), and everything in between. The love she expressed to her family and friends is hard to match. Seemingly simple acts, such as sending thoughtful cards to those celebrating and suffering, was one of her greatest impacts. To be such a humble, simple, salt of the earth woman… she touched the hearts and lives of so many. She adored music, especially Elvis, and was a huge movie buff. Her impressive collection of movies kept everyone entertained. Her quick wit and matter of factness, was balanced with her softness and unconditional love. There will never be a day she isn’t missed and longed for. Her arms and heart were close to the arms and heart of Jesus. She knew her forever home was in heaven. As Dent Wiggins said at her service, we say “there she goes” on earth, and God says, “here she comes” in heaven. What a happy day! Nana, we know you’re continuing to live your best life with your Lord and Savior. We can’t wait to be wrapped in your arms again soon.
