JOSEPH OGLESBY

Joseph Neal Oglesby, of Sylvania, age 66, husband of Denise Renee Williams Oglesby, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, August 8, 2023, at Memorial University Medical Center-Savannah.

Joe was born in Sylvania, GA, to the late couple Neal “Bully” Oglesby & Johnnie Mock Oglesby, on October 20, 1956. He was a metallurgist at Koyo Bearings, and a member of the Sylvania First United Methodist Church. Joe enjoyed reading, his work, and watching football, but he loved time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports. He was an avid flight and space enthusiast and loved to cook.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Amanda Oglesby.

Those who will cherish his memory include his wife, Denise Oglesby; sons and daughters-in-law, Josh & Kim Oglesby, Tyler & Ashley Oglesby; and grandchildren, Joshua Mills Oglesby, Riley Neal Oglesby, Cason Tyler Oglesby, Adaline Gray Oglesby and Finnley Mae Oglesby.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 11:00 A.M., in the Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Mike Johnston will officiate the funeral service that will commence at 12:00 P.M., with interment to follow at Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
