Sylvania - James A. Hammons, Sr., 75, passed away Friday morning, July 3, 2020, at Optim Medical Center--Screven in Sylvania. He was born March 18, 1945, in Brookhaven, Mississippi to the late William Arthur and Retha Lambert Hammons and had made his home in Screven County for many years. He was a member of the Newington Baptist Church and was a truck driver, hauling cotton during its season. He was preceded in death by his Parents and a Son, Donald Hammons.
He is survived by his Wife, Marilyn Jenkins Hammons of Sylvania, Daughters, Theresa Morrison of Rincon and Paula Hammons of Sylvania, Sons and Daughters-in-Law, James A., Jr. and Renee Hammons of Tickfaw, Louisiana, David Paul and Michelle Hammons and Dale and Donna Brown all of Sylvania, Sisters, Ida Belle Davis and Ruth Buie both of Pumpkin Center, Louisiana, 12 Grandchildren, 4 Great-Grandchildren and Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be held Monday morning, July 6, 2020, at 11:00 o'clock at the Screven County Memorial Cemetery with Vincent Sam Marsiglia, III, grandson, officiating. Burial following.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
