Statesboro (formerly of Sylvania) – Heidi M. Scott Harsha, age 52, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020, at her residence in Statesboro after a 2-year battle with cancer. She was born in Screven County, GA, and graduated from Screven County High School in 1985. She worked as a Systems Analyst for Georgia Southern University’s I.T. Services for 26 years. A life-long Georgia Southern Eagle’s fan, she did not miss a home football game throughout her battle. She attended both season ending bowl games (2018-Alabama & 2019-Florida).
Heidi dedicated her life to her two daughters: Kirstie and Kalli. Always present at school and athletic events, she inspired into her daughters a tenacity to never give up and always work hard. She instilled into “her girls” the importance and value of education, both graduating from Georgia Southern. She enjoyed traveling and experience live events with her friends and daughters, never letting her illness slow her down.
Heidi was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy “Neal” Scott, Jr.; maternal grandparents, Larry and Vetta Thompson: and paternal grandparents, Rufus and Dora Scott.
She is survived by: parents: Jimmy Neal, Sr. and Jeanene Thompson Scott of Sylvania; daughters: Kirstie and Kalli Harsha, both of Statesboro, GA; brother: Jody (Christina) Scott of Bluffton, SC; cousin yet like a sister, Sandi Van Hoosier of Lexington, SC; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
