Elaine Gayle Mobley

Sylvania - Elaine Gayle Mobley, age 71, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020, under the care of Compassus Hospice at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, GA.   She was born in Millen, GA to the late William R. and Voncile J. Mobley of Sylvania GA.  She graduated from Screven County High School, Class of 1967, and from Emory University in Atlanta. Elaine was a member of the Sylvania First Methodist Church and the Screven County Garden Club.

While in Atlanta, she was the manager of Waldenbooks at Lenox Square.  Upon returning to Sylvania after working at the Screven County Hospital, Elaine eventually became the Manager of the Administrative section of the Screven County Health Department.  She also wrote the grant and helped plan the building that currently houses the Health Department.

She is survived by a brother, William R. Mobley, of Atlantic Beach, FL, and one aunt, Vicki L. Mobley of Sylvania, GA, and numerous cousins.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. in the Screven County Memorial Cemetery, with Dr. Charles E. Cravey officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of your choice.  Covid restrictions will apply during services.

Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
