Sylvania, GA – Efton Ralph “Mac” Mahaffey, age 90, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019, at Syl-View Rehabilitation & Memory Center in Sylvania. He was born in Bearden, OK to the late Clarence & Florence Mahaffey. He worked as a meteorologist for the National Weather Service at Bush Field Airport in Augusta, GA and was of Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Hunting was a special hobby to “Mac” and he was a former member of the Nanny Goat Hunting Club. He was also a member of the Sylvania Masonic Lodge #301, the Sylvania Rotary Club and the Shriners Alee Temple of Savannah. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his Daughter: Linda Mahaffey McDonald; Sisters: Inez M. Brown and Leona Mahaffey.
Survivors: Wife: Shirley Cleary Mahaffey of Sylvania; Daughters and Sons-In-Law: Lana M. & Larry Branch of Palatka, FL and Angel M. & Joey McBride of Sylvania; Son and Daughter-In-Law: Clay & Terri Mahaffey of Canton, GA; Grandchildren: Macay & Dru McBride and Brooke & Drake Collins, all of Sylvania, Evan Mahaffey and Raven Mahaffey, both of Canton, GA; Great-Grandchildren: Stone McBride, Stella McBride, Malley Marchand, Clare Marchand and Archer Collins; Several Nieces and Nephews.
Visitation: Sunday, September 8, 2019 following services.
Graveside Services: Sunday, September 8, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Screven County Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Ricky Varnell and Rev. Charles Cleary officiating. Burial following.
