Charles Edsel Wells

Sylvania - Charles Edsel Wells, age 89, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020, at Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility in Statesboro. He was born in Screven County, GA to the late Charles Henry and Lucy Ann Powell Wells and was the widower of Yvonne Powell Wells.  He was retired from Torrington Corporation of Sylvania after 16 years of service, where he worked as a receiving manager and was a farmer for many years.  He was a member of Screven County Farm Bureau where he served on the Board of Directors for 20 years. He was also a member of Buck Creek United Methodist Church and liked to fish, hunt and build items with wood.  Most of all, his greatest joy was being with his family. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Wife; Sisters: Martha Nell Wells Parker and Lucy Ann Wells Hunter; Brother: Ben Frank Wells.

Survivors: Daughter and Son-In-Law: Terri W. & Calvin Sanders of Clark Hill, SC; Sons and Daughters-In-Law: Scott & Teresa Wells, Jeff & Cynthia Wells and Todd & Cindy Wells, all of Sylvania; 10 Grandchildren; 11 Great-Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Visitation: Monday, February 10, 2020 at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.

Funeral Services: Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Buck Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Karen Zeigler and Rev. Jason McClendon officiating.  Burial following at Buck Creek United Methodist Cemetery. Mr. Wells will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM until time of funeral hour.

Pallbearers:  Cal Sanders, Jake Sanders, Justin Wells, Dean Mussell, Jeremy Medlin, and Hayden Wells. Honorary Pallbearers: Juan Hill, Jimmy Dickerson, Greg Evans, Craig Evans, Johnny Wells, Russell Brower, and Mitchell Austin.
