CECILIA WHITTON DYAL
Cecilia W. Dyal peacefully entered her Heavenly Rest on July 14, 2022. Born in Waldo, FL, she spent most of her 101 years in the Brandon, FL area. She resided in Sylvania, GA for the past 15 years.
A blessing to many, she was a retired educator. She deeply cherished the years she taught Social Studies in Hillsborough County, FL and Political Science/American Government at Hillsborough Community College. A Christian who loved her Lord, lover of her family near and far, a life-long learner, an avid reader, a committed liberal Democrat, and a lover of animals, she will be greatly missed by many.
She will be especially remembered as an advocate for the underdog and for always seeing the good in people.
For 28 years she journeyed through life without the love of her life, husband Wahl, and now has been released to join him in Heavenly Rest. Her patient wait has now turned to joy!
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law (Judy and Hal Simmons); beloved cousins Iva Dorris, Jewelle Freeland, Cathy (Jerry) Susar; sister-in-law Jackie Gustafson; six nephews & their families; & many friends.
Judy and Hal thank everyone who never wavered in showing their love for Cecilia -- and in the care she needed. We thank Him for your devotion to others -- especially Cecilia.
Much appreciation goes to The Ogeechee Area Hospice Team who helped make a difficult time "palatable" and to the Team at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home for their kindnesses.
Due to Covid, a private interment next to her beloved husband Wahl, will be held in Brandon FL, officiated by Pastor Marc Mashburn, Family Friend and former student of Cecilia.
