Sylvania, Georgia

Sylvania - Carlton Earl Weaver (Pop) died peacefully under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice surrounded by his family, Monday March 2, 2020.

He was born July 4th, 1927, the youngest of 9 children, here in Sylvania to James Clyde and Nora Oliver Weaver. He graduated from Sylvania High School and attended Georgia Southern College. He served in the U.S. Army and was a WWII veteran. He was retired at age 90 from Sheppard Gas Company after 50+ years’ service of keeping many locals warm during cold weather months with gas and good conversation.

Other than his parents, he was also preceded by his siblings Truman Weaver, Leo Weaver, Sr., Vetta Thompson, Estelle Rogers, Florence Patton, J.C. Weaver, Jr., Kathlene Weaver and Carrie Zeagler. He was also recently preceded in death by his grandson, Sam Weaver.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Etta Rae Weaver, and a daughter, Sharon (Stan) Sheppard, two sons, Kenny (Patti) Weaver, and Michael (Vicky) Weaver; 4 stepsons, Rick Jordan, Mark Jordan, Randy (Linda) Jordan, and Chris (Gina) Jordan; Grandchildren: Richard Sheppard, Stephanie Foldes, Nicolette Weaver, Josh Weaver and Ben Weaver, 10 Great-Grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Carlton will be remembered for his quiet strength, friendly face and great love for his family and his church.
