BARBARA BOYD

Barbara Joyce Godbee Boyd, age 92, widow of Claudy Andrew Boyd, went home to heaven to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at her residence.

Barbara was born in Screven County on June 17, 1931, to the late Jospeh Henry, Sr. & Mabel Oglesby Godbee. After retiring from Screven County Hospital, she enjoyed spending time with her family, going shopping, and tending to her flowers. She was a member of the Ellis Chapel Church, and a member of their choir.

In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her children; Richard Duane Boyd, infant daughter, Stephanie Boyd, Constance Arlene “Connie” Boyd and Deborah Denise Boyd Hagan; siblings, Raiford Godbee, Ralph Godbee, Roy Godbee, J.H. Godbee, Jr., Eunice G. Coursey, Evelyn G. Cooper and Myrtle G. Sheffield.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Claudette & Joe Sasser; son, Michael Andrew Boyd; grandchildren, Jake Sasser, Charlene & Josh Revels, Boyd & Caitlin Sasser; great-grandchildren, Luke Revels, Carlin Sasser, Audrey Revels, Camryn Sasser, Suzannah Revels; brother and sister-in-law, Melbourne & Brenda Godbee; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Ellis Chapel Church in Sylvania, GA. Rev. Dr. Karen Zeigler & Rev. Sonny Moon will officiate the funeral service that will commence at 12:30 PM, interment will follow at Ellis Chapel Cemetery.
