Alma Rita Hagan

Alma Rita Hagan, age 90, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She married the love of her life, Earl Phillips and spent ten wonderful years with him beginning to raise their family of three until the Lord called him home. Three years later she married David Wiggins and spent thirty seven years with him. Alma began her working career as the manager of Roses Cafeteria and later moved to the manger's position at Woolworth’s Cafeteria. After Woolworth’s closed its doors, she then began a career with Cooper-Wiss which she enjoyed for more than twenty five years. Alma was a wonderful cook and baker, she enjoyed serving her family many delicious meals and sweets. She spent many hours outside in her garden greeting strangers who wanted to take pictures of her beautiful flowers. She was also a superb seamstress. Alma was a life long member of Goloid Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of ten years, Earl Phillips, and David Wiggins of thirty years; her parents, John Loss Hagan and Mildred Palmer Hagan; her brothers, Donald Hagan, Wendell Hagan, and John R. Hagan; and her sister, Jackie Bazemore. 

 Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Ann P. (Ralph) Mock of Rocky Ford; her sons, Johnny Earl Phillips of Statesboro, Ga, and Ronnie Jerald (Jeanene) Phillips of Statesboro; Bother in law Billy Stephens,; Sister in law Rachel Hagan,; her sister, Helen Stephens of Register, Ga,; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM in the James M. Strickland Memorial Chapel of Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Hendrix officiating. 

 Burial will follow in the Rocky Ford Cemetery.
